Cars in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Officers mentioned they were contacted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state early analysis show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.

An important official commented the incident rendered him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
